This trip will take you to Lake Mburo National Park where you will enjoy a game drive and boat cruise looking out for different wildlife species like leopards, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and Uganda Kobs. Journey to Southwest and trek gorillas in Mgahinga National Park, enjoy the Lake Bunyonyi Island tour and cultural encounters with the Batwa who are believed to be one of the earliest ethnic groups to live in Uganda.
Our driver guide will drive to Lake Mburo National Park, a compact gem renowned for its diverse wildlife and unique landscapes. The park has 13 other lakes around the park with Lake Mburo being the largest. Passing through small towns along Kampala Masaka highway, you will make a stopover at the equator for photos, arriving in the park in time for lunch.
Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner
Today, you will go on a 3–4-hour morning game drive where you will encounter several wildlife species like impalas, oribis, buffalos, elands, and zebras. Return to your accommodation for lunch after which, you will take a boat ride on the lake to witness hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of waterbirds up close while enjoying the serene waters and beautiful scenery. Dinner and overnight at your reserved accommodation.
After breakfast, we start our drive to Mgahinga National Park in Southwestern Uganda. Enjoy the journey as go through towns like Mbarara, Ntungamo, Kabale then Kisoro. It is an extremely thrilling one as you go through the lowlands, rolling and terraced hills of Kabale and Kisoro making these districts the “Switzerland of Uganda” and the “Pearl” of the Pearl of Africa respectively. Lunch will be served enroute and you will arrive in time for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, our driver will drive you to Mgahinga National Park headquarters arriving in time for briefing. After the briefing, the UWA guide will lead you into the forest to locate gorillas. Mgahinga National Park has only one habituated mountain gorilla family called Nyakagezi which used to move between Rwanda Volcanoes National Park and Mgahinga National Park but it now permanently resides in Uganda. Once you find the Nyakagezi family, you will be allowed one hour with the gorillas then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Today, you will visit the famous Batwa and learn more about their culture as you get entertained and involved in their traditional dance and other practices. You will have lunch and then head out to Lake Bunyonyi. It is here that you will enjoy the spectacular views of the beautiful lake spotted with 29 islands each with their own rich history. Enjoy dinner under a cozy campfire by the lake.
After an early morning breakfast, take a boat ride around the islands and visit the Punishment and Adventure Island. The punishment island is that where unmarried pregnant women were dumped while the adventure island is that where you will be able to engage in sports activities like zip lining, high ropes, and biking. After a fun-filled day, you will head back to the Lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.
Having lunch enroute, our driver guide will drive you back to Entebbe and drop you off at the hotel where you will be accommodated for your overnight stay.
